World Environment Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and awareness at Shree Gujarati English Medium High School on June 5th. The event, held in the school hall, was organized by the students of grades 9 and 10 and included a variety of engaging activities.
The program commenced with an invocation, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the day's events. Priyanka of grade 10 then welcomed the gathering, extending a warm greeting to all students, teachers, and guests in attendance.
Teerta of class IX delivered an insightful speech on the importance of World Environment Day, emphasizing the need for environmental conservation and sustainable practices. Her speech highlighted the significance of collective efforts in protecting our planet for future generations.
Following the speech, a quiz was conducted to test and enhance their knowledge of environmental issues and solutions. The interactive session was both educational and fun, encouraging students to think critically about their role in preserving the environment.
To further engage the students, the audience was entertained by a captivating Mime show and dance performance by the students of class IX and X, which was both an enjoyable and thought-provoking, underscoring environmental themes through art.
The principal of the school then took the stage to enlighten the audience on the day's importance, reiterating the critical role that each individual plays in environmental stewardship. The principal's address was inspiring and served as a call to action for everyone present.
Anshika of grade IX rendered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and attendees for making the event a success. She acknowledged the efforts of the students and teachers in organizing such a meaningful celebration.
A unique and symbolic activity concluded the event: students brought saplings which they exchanged with their friends. This gesture was a commitment to take care of the saplings for the next year, fostering a sense of responsibility and connection to nature.
